The short version

Your videos and posters stay in your personal iCloud library. Habit uses a secure service for your account, subscription status and the searchable text needed to connect your library to ChatGPT or Claude.

What stays in your iCloud library

The saved video, audio and poster media remain in Habit's container in your personal iCloud account. Apple provides that storage and sync under your Apple account.

What Habit's service stores

Habit stores the information needed to operate your account and AI connection: your account identity, subscription status, a revocable connection token, and searchable text associated with your saves. Searchable text can include a title, summary, transcript, tags, source URL and save date. Habit does not upload the saved video, audio or poster media to this service.

ChatGPT and Claude

If you connect Habit to ChatGPT or Claude, that service can request matching text from your Habit library using your personal connection token. What the AI provider does with a request and response is governed by the privacy terms of the provider and account you choose to use. You can rotate the Habit token to disconnect an existing connection.

The newsletter

If you join the newsletter on this website, we keep your email address so we can tell you when Habit launches and send the occasional update. It is stored with Resend, the email service that sends those emails. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time using the contact below.

Signing in to other services

Habit is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Instagram, TikTok, Meta or ByteDance. We never receive, store or see your username or password for those services.

Payments

Subscriptions are purchased through Apple. Apple handles your payment details and tells Habit whether your subscription is active. Habit's service stores the resulting subscription status so the AI connection can confirm access.

Deleting your data

You can remove local and iCloud media through the app and your iCloud settings. Account and searchable-text deletion controls will be provided with the released service. Until release, contact us at the address below for a deletion request.
